Kia Ora welcome to my blog post, yesterday in business enterprise kete, in my group we called our self's North Wonder Stickers.the job roll for my group which was Canada was the ceo and bob was the marketing manger, and cayleigh was the production manger, also Kaycee, and also Hollie was in our group
but she was just helping us when we were stuck on things.

I think my groups business was successful because we sold  all of or stickers and people thought that they were a good product.here is some of tip to make your business work you can put the time in to Ur product that Ur making.in our group the thing that we needed to make  the stickers were baking  paper the printer to print pictures also we had to get tape.

We made out stickers by getting baking paper and then we put the tape on it and then we put our photo that we made into a sticker so we put the photo on and then we put tape on it again and then when you take the baking paper off and the it becomes a sticker.

I think we showed our Carr values because we all got along and we all didn't fight or anything like that and we just got it done and then we were happy when we finished our stickers.

Sherbert

Baking Soda is also known as Sodium Bicarbonate.Due to its abrasive and cleaning properties it is used as a raising agent in baking, as a household cleaner and in a number of other ways.

My 10 uses of baking soda are:

  1.  Treat heartburn

  2. Mouthwash

  3. Soothe canker sores

  4. Deodorant

  5.  May improve exercise performance

  6. Relieve itchy skin and sunburns

  7. May slow the progression of chronic kidney disease

  8. Neutralize fridge odors

  9.  Air freshener

  10. Kitchen cleaner

Making Sherbet

We need to write down our equipment and the steps we will go through to make our sherbet.

Once we have completed the materials and steps we can make sherbet.

While you are eating your sherbet you can answer the 5 questions at the end.

Equipment:

  1. sugar

  2. Baking soda

  3. Raro crystals

  4. citric acid

  5. tartaric acid

Steps

1.Add the baking soda sugar and acid together in a bowl

2. Add the Raro crystals and the tartaric acid together

3. add all the ingerdeints together

4. Mix it well together and eat it. No comment

Recipe:

1 teaspoon of powdered drink crystals (eg Raro)

1/4 teaspoon of citric acid

1 teaspoon of Icing Sugar

1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda.

Findings:

1. Which two ingredients in the sherbet are involved in the chemical reaction?

2. Which ingredients are not involved?

3. Can you think of any other chemical reactions that might happen in the kitchen?

4. Which ingredient is an acid?

5. Which ingredient is a base?

Introduction: Acid Rain video

.......followed by this video on acids.

Watch this video: What makes something acid?

Answer the questions: Properties of acids

What makes something acidic?

What are 3 examples of acids?

What are some natural acids?

What is the pH scale?

What does pH stand for?

p stands for __ph____________.

H stands for _____________.

What is the most famous indicator?

How many numbers are there on the pH scale?

What are the numbers for an acid?

What numbers are for a base / alkaline?

What flavour are acids?

Aim: To make red cabbage pH indicator for use on different household chemicals.

Red Cabbage Indicator experiment

Materials

  1. Red Cabbage

  2. Beaker

  3. Bunsen Burner

  4. Pipette

  5. Sodium Hydroxide

  6. Hydrochloric acid

  7. Test Tubes ( x5)

  8. Paper towel

  9. Test tube rack

  10. Water

Steps

  1. Chop up the red cabbage into small pieces. Place in a beaker and cover with a small amount of water.

  2. Bring the solution to the boil using a bunsen burner

  3. and then turn off the heat. Let it sit to cool down.

  4. Pour the cabbage water through a paper towel into a beaker. The dark

  5. purple liquid in the jar is the pH indicator liquid.

  6. Suck up the indicator into a pipette.

  7. In a test tube, use the cabbage indicator and the pH

  8. chart below to test the acidity of the the hydrochloric acid and ammonium hydroxide.

Findings.

What is the pH of liquids.

  1. Sodium Hydroxide

  2. Hydrochloric acid

pH indicators

Definition: pH (potential

of hydrogen) is a scale of acidity

from 0 to 14 with 7 being neutral.

pH Explained

All solutions have a pH. Acid solutions, have lower pH. Alkaline solutions,

have higher pH. Substances that aren't acidic or alkaline

(that is, neutral solutions) usually have a pH of 7. Acids have

a pH that is less than 7. Alkalis have a pH that is greater than 7.

Write down the 15 substances

from the diagram and beside them list their pH level.

List them under 2 headings. 1. Acidic 2. Alkaline

Experiment: Red Cabbage indicator.

Equipment:

  1. Red Cabbage

  2. Knife

  3. Bunsen Burner

  4. Beaker

  5. Water

Method:

  1. Cut the cabbage into small pieces.

  2. Place the cabbage in the beaker

  3. and fill it with 50 ml of water.

  4. Once the cabbage has boiled for 2 mi

  5. nutes turn it off and leave it to cool down.

  6. Once it has cooled remove the cabba

  7. ge leaves and use the red water as an indicator.

Complete the quiz below:

The ph scale ranges from what numbers?

Name 4 substabces that are acidic?

Name 4 substances that are basic?

Name another pH indicator used in a science lab?

By using red cabbage as an indicator we

can determine what the pH level is of substances.
